The Hanover Board of Supervisors has approved a unique paintball and ‘wakeboarding’ park that will be located near Kings Dominion.
The recreational complex will include a 10.5-acre lake. Riders will be pulled via overhead cable across the lake, a sport which is called wakeboarding.
The closest cable wakeboarding park is in Orlando, Florida, which creates the potential for this park to become a major tourist attraction.
“You’ve heard of destination Disney?” commented Beaverdam District Supervisor Aubrey M. Stanley. “I think it’s going to be destination Doswell in the future.”
Another part of the 33.62-acre park will incorporate paintball and speedball activities, with other recreational uses possible in the future.
The conditional use permit approved by the Board also allows a 7,200 square foot building which will serve the needs (including a snack bar) of customers and also as a sales center for potential retailers.
The park will be located on Theme Park Way behind Kings Dominion.
