Money Magazine Ranks Mechanicsville
Money magazine has ranked Mechanicsville as #84 on its list of the Top 100 “Best Places to Live.” The ranking appears in its August issue, now out on newsstands. Mechanicsville’s ranking is higher than any other Virginia locality.
“This rural Richmond-area community has a rich Civil War history, which it acknowledges with several battlefield monuments,” according to the magazine. “In recent years Mechanicsville has slowly suburbanized, and there are even a few townhouse developments, but you can still see the occasional corn field or 20-acre horse farm.”
The 2009 list highlights towns with populations between 8,500 and 50,000 where “jobs are available, crime is low, schools are top-notch and housing is affordable.”
It was the second time in three years that Mechanicsville made the Top 100 list. It was ranked #54 in 2007.
