Senator McDougle Selected as
Member of Governor-Elect McDonnell’s Transition Public Safety Work Group
Richmond, Virginia (December 9, 2009)
Governor-elect McDonnell announced Senator Ryan T. McDougle (R-Hanover) will
serve as a leading member of the Transition Public Safety Work Group. The
Governor-elect assembled this and several other work groups to analyze agencies
and policies the Secretary of Public Safety will be responsible for in the new
Administration. On the Public Safety Work Group, Senator McDougle and his team
members will serve as a liaison to the incumbent secretariat on behalf of the
Governor-elect, conduct a review of administrative practices and polices within
the agencies and evaluate and review and significant issues in order to provide
a smooth transition between Administrations. The Work Group will also identify
opportunities to reduce the size and cost of state government.
“I’m excited to serve as the Co-Chair of the Transition Policy Public Safety
Work Group and to assist Governor-elect McDonnell as he prepares for his
upcoming Administration. With my background as a prosecutor and service on the
Courts of Justice committees in both the House of Delegates and Senate, I look
forward to working with my team members. We will continue our work to make
Virginia safe and to ensure our law enforcement and first responders have the
support needed to do their jobs through the Commonwealth,” said Senator McDougle.
